{"id":4838,"date":"2025-02-03T12:23:26","date_gmt":"2025-02-03T11:23:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bingley\/?p=4838"},"modified":"2025-02-03T12:23:26","modified_gmt":"2025-02-03T11:23:26","slug":"un-international-day-of-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bingley\/2025\/02\/03\/un-international-day-of-education\/","title":{"rendered":"UN International Day of Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>24th January is the UN&#8217;s Day of Education<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\/goal4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-18862 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/assets\/Goal-4-233x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Sadly too many girls still face numerous barriers to gaining a full education.\u00a0 Too many obstacles exist for girls in many communities and parts of the world to gain the meaningful education they deserve and should expect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soroptimist International work to break down these barriers with the aim of creating gender parity for girls as this is what will empower women to overcome hurdles and stereotypes, pursue their dreams, and<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Where We Stand : Soroptimist International<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soroptimistinternational.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Access-to-Education-and-Training-WWSPP-Dec-2023_Approved-Final.pdf\">Read our full position paper and recommendations from Soroptimist International<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-18868\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/assets\/SI-Position-paper.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"466\" height=\"344\" \/>Universal access to safe, inclusive and high-quality education and training for women and girls is a fundamental human right and is crucial to ensure sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>Global cooperation is required to address the challenges associated with access to education and training. Unified actions from States, the private sector, NGOs and civil society are necessary to promote gender equality in education and remove systemic barriers facing women and girls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As the saying goes, \u2018If you educate a man, you educate an individual.
