Members of SI Bolton jumped at the chance of publicising their work on Bolton FM one Saturday morning in January.  The job fell to one of SI Bolton’s long standing members, Susan Whitter, a past President and current Secretary of the Club.

After Susan was introduced by a fanfare, she went on to give background information about our Bolton Club and its members.  She then went on to talk about all the organisations and charities that SI Bolton have been involved with over the years such as BRASS, Fortalice, Urban Outreach and Street Angels.

The DJ,  Rob and his assistant Dorothy, told the public about the SI Bolton web site and how to find it.  Also where the Club meets and how often and how to make contact with the Club.

After a musical break, Susan gave a details of the Club’s association with the Soroptimist Club in Kathmandu.  This newly formed Club was officially opened by one of our members, Margaret Baker.  This was the beginning of a long project to help 5 underprivileged girls in the Kathmandu area to access education, providing uniforms, books and food.

Despite the terrible earthquake in Nepal, we have managed to maintain contact with the Club through social media and e mail. We are now part of a bigger project together with Soroptimists of South Lancashire to provide funds for earthquake victims.

We hope to repeat this media opportunity in the near future as we have always so much to report on.
