Chartered in 1939 our Bolton club is celebrating it’s 80th anniversary this year. To celebrate the club hosted a special Charter dinner at Brookfield in Westhoughton. Helping us to celebrate our President, Maureen Barber welcomed the guests; the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Elaine Sherrington, Miss Sue Underwood, President of Soroptimist International Federation of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Reverend Paul Hardingham. After a beautiful meal we were treated to a talk by Carol Graham of “Storyspace”. Carol originally comes from Bolton but is now living and working in Shropshire where she works with children and adults to develop creativity and confidence through stories and creative writing, including poetry. Carol was clearly an inspirational teacher and she entertained us with her own stories as well as poems written by women in her workshops.
