Soroptimist International of Bournemouth’s charity Cementing Futures<\/a> has received a boost in funds recently\u00a0thanks to two events and our many supporters –<\/p>\n

Firstly –\u00a0\u00a0Tandem Bike Ride \u2013 The Hornblow Jogle<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

John O\u2019Groats to Land\u2019s End<\/strong> on a tandem<\/strong>\u2026.From 23rd<\/sup> September 2017 for two weeks Stephney and Jono Hornblow \u2013 mother and son \u2013 cycled the 894 miles to raise funds for Cementing Futures<\/a>.Stephney (65) had a health scare in 2016 and subsequently began training and lost in excess of five stones in weight. Her son Jono has been totally encouraging and was the other half of the tandem. They believed Cementing Futures<\/a> a really worthwhile cause, along with the British Heart Foundation. Husband Tim did the cooking in a camper van en route and Bobbie White and Liz Dominey \u2013 SI Bournemouth \u2013 were the \u201croadies.\u201dVarious friends and soroptimists provided accommodation along the route which started at John O\u2019Groats. They travelled to Tongue, Strathpeffer, Fort William, Inverary, Kilmarnock, Dumfries, Lancaster, Nantwich, Hereford, Bridgwater, Liskeard and Land\u2019s End.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth and Poole Soroptimists and their loyal supporters manned a hydration station at the 2017 Bournemouth Marathon. Once again the weather was gorgeous and a total of \u00a3465 was raised for Cementing Futures<\/a>.\u00a0 Special thanks to\u00a0half-marathon runner Ken Adams and friends for supporting\u00a0the charity\u00a0again this year by donating all the funds that they raised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
