President Kathryn`s Address-AGM 27 April 2011
We are beginning the 64th year of S.I. Bridgend and as the forthcoming President I should like to give the Club my very best effort.
It has been just a short time since I joined the Soroptimists during which I have been nurtured in a non –intrusive way and always made to feel so welcome.
I regard the role of President as that of Service and one that I look forward to with an open mind and one that is receptive to change.
My Charity choice is-` faceupcymru`-a charity that offers support to people who have undergone oral and facial surgery. Also I should like to offer a small gift to the Ophthalmic Unit at Princess of WalesHospital, Bridgend.
I feel it is imperative that we continue to raise awareness of the inequalities of opportunities, rights and privileges that still exist between women and men both locally and globally .
The new S.I. Regional project which focuses on the abuse of alcohol in young women has caught the attention of our Club members and has been received with great enthusiasm and commitment . We are all looking forward to working with each other in this very important area of Service to young women.
