Bridgend Soroptimist Club held a coffee morning on July 15 at the home of club secretary Marjorie Page.
The event raised the sum of £248 for the Meru Womens’ Garden Project in Nepal. The goal is to provide women in that area with the means to grow their own food products and sell on any surplus which will enable them to expand.
This project is currently being supported by all Soroptimist clubs in the UK and will run for a year.
Members and guests enjoyed a magnificent array of cakes and pastries and were joined by two young pupils visiting Wales from Estonia and Spain. They are studying English and will be taking home some good memories of the Soroptimist movement, both in Wales and throughout the world.
