Lunch with friends is something we all value. For Bridgend Soroptimists, this lovely summer lunch in July was a double delight.
The lunch was hosted by President Sharon at her home and was an opportunity for members and friends to enjoy good food, good wine and good company.
As well as enjoying a convivial, alfresco gathering, the event was a way to raise funds for one of the Club’s projects, Contact the Elderly.
President Sharon explains, “Bridgend members have supported this charity for a number of years by hosting afternoon teas for older people living on their own. These people often feel very isolated from society and the teas offer them the chance of an afternoon out, with conversation and companionship.”
“Every year, South Wales Contact the Elderly have a summer outing. Bridgend Soroptimists have a small fundraising event, so that we are able to take our regular tea-time guests on this trip. I was delighted to host this lunch for that reason and am delighted to say that we raised £260.”
