President joyce with Madeleine Moon MP, Kate Thomas, Lord Lieutenant Mid Glamorgan and Regional President Hilary Allman. On July 5th 2009 President Joyce held a lunch at the Bear Hotel in Cowbridge. Members of our club and neighbouring clubs together with Soroptimisters and some of Joyce’s friends enjoyed a lovely lunch and the excellent speeches that followed; especially that from the main speaker, Kate Thomas, JP.CVO. She reminded women from South Wales of the lives of the women in generations before them brought up in the mining valleys and the hardships but the strength they had shown.
SI Bridgend held a very successful supper evening on May 6th when Professor Tina Bruce CBE spoke about issues in the field of child development and the considerations that she thinks are important when dealing with very young children. £300 plus profit was made towards the RNIB, President Joyce’s charity.
