Soroptimist International Wales South Alcohol Project poster competition – ‘Open your eyes, be alcohol wise.’ Jane Hutt AM presented the prizes. The runner up in the Primary School section was Oliver from Penyfai Church in Wales School. The Head Teacher of Penyfai Church in Wales School is Club member Christina. President Carys , who was involved with the judging, was on hand to see all the prize winners receive their prizes.
Immediate Past President Kathryn presented a cheque from money raised during her year of office to the charity FaceUp Cymru. Kathryn was accompanied by Club Treasurer Anne.
President Carys, members and friends walked across the 15th Century bridge in Bridgend and on through town to celebrate International Womens’ Day. The group arrived at “The Cottage” restaurant in the town and enjoyed a very pleasant lunch together.
Rotary International Bridgend recently held a Peace Forum at Bridgend College. President Carys and Club members attended and listened to a panel including local MP Madeleine Moon discussing related issues.
Several Club members attended a recent Regional meeting and took part in discussion groups.
Lily and President Carys with completed tree Again this year the Club participated in the Festival in Nolton Church. President Carys chose to decorate the tree to highlight the work of the Purple Teardrop Campaign and information leaflets were left for people to pick up.
At a recent Club business meeting it was good to welcome new member Margaret.
President Carys and members enjoyed a lovely warming lunch of soup, bread and cheese to raise money for the Purple Teardrop Campaign www.purpleteardrop.org.uk Club members were joined by friends from SI Cardiff and non Soroptimist friends and enjoyed a friendly time. £100 was raised for Purple Teardrop.
President Carys was joined by several club members at the Annual conference in Belfast.
