They are washed, prepared and sent to the countries needing them.<\/p>\n<p>On a practical note it is important that children who require glasses get them early or they fall behind with their<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bristol\/files\/2020\/11\/Vision-Aid-Overseas.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5368\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bristol\/files\/2020\/11\/Vision-Aid-Overseas-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bristol\/files\/2020\/11\/Vision-Aid-Overseas-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bristol\/files\/2020\/11\/Vision-Aid-Overseas.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> work.\u00a0 Volunteers (4-6) go to the country where they are needed for two weeks at a time and they contribute to the cost.\u00a0 They set up optical workshops to enable prescriptions for glasses to be made locally.\u00a0 They work with students who are on a \u201cPractical and Theory\u201d Optometry Course. In week one they have tutorials and group work and then in week two they go out into the community.\u00a0 We were shown slides of students being taught and practicing their skills.
