{"id":6899,"date":"2025-07-07T18:36:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T17:36:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bristol\/?p=6899"},"modified":"2025-07-09T16:35:52","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T15:35:52","slug":"si-bristol-contribute-to-the-soroptimist-national-railway-safety-survey-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/bristol\/2025\/07\/07\/si-bristol-contribute-to-the-soroptimist-national-railway-safety-survey-project\/","title":{"rendered":"SI Bristol Contribute to the Soroptimist National Railway Safety Survey Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6905&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text]<strong>SI Bristol completed \u00a0part of the Soroptimist National Railway Safety Survey Project.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project was originally launched in 1996 and is being re-launched to celebrate Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland\u2019s 90th year.<\/p>\n<p>In 1996, Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI), a registered charity, published a report making recommendations to the UK Government on how to improve safety in stations, claiming the Government\u2019s approach to passenger safety in railway stations was ineffective.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;62px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]To advance the work being done further, the charity is kickstarting the project again \u2013 asking the same questions at the UK\u2019s railway stations, to see how much has changed and to obtain a more detailed picture of women\u2019s travelling safety across the country.
