Cannock Soroptimists were delighted to welcome two new members at their last Business meeting. President Val Jones inducted Jackie Prince and Marion Taylor as members, telling each one that she is now a member of Soroptimist International, a worldwide organisation of members with a common goal in transforming the lives of women and girls. President Val continued by saying that she hoped that in joining us, as we work towards our objectives, Jackie and Marion will find a sense of purpose and achievement, as well as the friendship and support of fellow members. President Val added that she was proud of the success the Club has had in attracting new members particularly when, in today’s society, women have many competing demands and pressures upon them.<\/p>\n

Marion has spent her working life in pharmacy departments and is now retired.\u00a0 Jackie has worked for West Midlands Police as a member of police staff since 1988 fulfilling many roles during that time.\u00a0 Her current role is as a training officer teaching ICT systems to police officers and police staff.\u00a0 She is trained to assist in major incidents and also enjoys her work mentoring younger staff members.<\/p>\n

Jackie spoke on behalf of herself and Marion, saying they had been thrilled to have been welcomed so warmly on each of the occasions they had attended SI Cannock meetings and saying how much they were looking forward to having an involvement in the work of the club and the organisation, using their skills to join other Soroptimists in educating, empowering and enabling women locally and around the world.<\/p>\n

They had each read of Soroptimists in the press for some while; the work they did and the fun they had appealed to them so, when the time was right for them, they made an approach and were invited along to a meeting.<\/p>\n
