Cannock Soroptimists were delighted to be able to donate hand creams and face moisturiser for NHS staff at New Cross and Walsall Manor Hospitals, thanks to the generosity of members, their friends, neighbours and families.\u00a0 Staff wearing PPE find that their skin suffers; having creams readily available will help to alleviate the problem for them.<\/p>\n

In addition members and friends have been making uniform bags so that nurses can remove their uniform, put it directly into a bag, tie the drawstring top and put the bag into the washing machine to wash at 60 degrees; and headbands with buttons to use with masks: instead of the elastic going behind the wearer\u2019s ears, it is looped around the button, which is so much more comfortable.\u00a0 Knitted red hearts have also been made \u2013 these are given to patients and to their families.<\/p>\n

This week each hospital received 72 items of cream, with thank you notes for the nurses\u2019 stations; 1 box of gloves; headbands and 24 uniform bags, each with a bar of chocolate and a thank you note inside.<\/p>\n

The collection of creams will continue, as will the making of headbands, uniform bags and knitted hearts.<\/p>\n

Donations can be put in the box on the drive of 52 Hatherton Road, Cannock: any items, red wool, buttons or lengths of material will be very gratefully received.\u00a0 Please would you ensure all products are wiped or sprayed with antiseptic before they are put in the box- thank you so much!<\/p>\n
