{"id":4942,"date":"2023-05-10T15:57:49","date_gmt":"2023-05-10T14:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/cannock-and-district\/?p=4942"},"modified":"2023-05-10T15:57:49","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T14:57:49","slug":"agm-2023-new-team-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/cannock-and-district\/2023\/05\/10\/agm-2023-new-team-president\/","title":{"rendered":"AGM 2023 New Team President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SI Cannock held it\u2019s AGM at The Barns on 18 th April, giving its members the opportunity to look<br \/>\nback on another successful year!<br \/>\nThe club has been run by a team this year rather than a single President, and will be run the<br \/>\nsame way in the coming year. The outgoing Lead Team President Trish Smith thanked everyone<br \/>\nfor their help and support. The theme for the year was \u2018We\u2019re all in this together!\u2019 and that was<br \/>\nevident throughout the year.<br \/>\nMembers were encouraged to chair meetings, arrange speakers and organize events which they<br \/>\ndid with enthusiasm and flair. Trish thanked these members for their efforts and hoped that<br \/>\nthey enjoyed the experience.<br \/>\nThey also celebrated the successful projects the club undertook through the year \u2013 existing ones<br \/>\nand many new ones \u2013 such as being a huge part in enabling the Books4Home charity to surpass<br \/>\nbook donations of an incredible 100,000 to children who would not otherwise have a book of<br \/>\ntheir own. One of the most successful new projects over the past year was the support given to<br \/>\nthe Ukrainian families that have sought refuge in the area from the terrible war in their country.<br \/>\nThe coffee meetings held each week have given the club the opportunity to help in so many<br \/>\nways, from getting children in to local schools to helping with safeguarding issues and hopefully<br \/>\nproviding a warm welcome to these families when they needed it most. Everyone agreed that<br \/>\nthe Christmas Party for the families was a highlight of the year!<br \/>\nThe incoming Lead Team President, Carole Holdcroft thanked Trish Smith for her hard work and<br \/>\nfor guiding the club through the past year. She also thanked the members who have already<br \/>\nvolunteered to take an active part in the running of the club in the coming year, saying that she<br \/>\nlooked forward to working with them.
