691 books!\u00a0 That was the fantastic total collected by 7 year old Emilia and donated to Books4Home.<\/p>\n
Emilia is the great niece of Soroptimist Trish Mellor and is an avid reader, she adores books; when she heard that there were children who do not have books of their own she could hardly believe it. So she decided to help \u2013 and immediately sorted out books of her own she was willing to give. Then, together with her Mom, Dad and younger sister she set about asking friends and school mates if they had any books they were willing to donate; she set herself a target of 250 books. After less than a week she had gone over that number \u2013 and was spurred on to continue collecting.<\/p>\n
Others in their home town in Shropshire heard of what Emilia was doing and she and her Mom, Natalie were pleased to continue collecting from anyone willing to donate books.<\/p>\n
The books were loaded into the cars and delivered to Beverley Ricketts who runs Books4Home \u2013 needless to say, Beverley was absolutely delighted \u2013 as were Cannock & District Soroptimists!<\/p>\n
Beverley was so impressed with Emilia\u2019s efforts; she presented her with a certificate which thanks her for collecting books, so helping to create a world where everyone is reading their way to a better future<\/p>\n
During the visit to Beverley, Emilia and her family learned more about the charity and the way it provides books for children who otherwise would have no books of their own \u2013 and made the decision to continue collecting!<\/p>\n
Emilia\u2019s books bring the total donated by SI Cannock & District to 15,465.<\/p>\n
