Lilian Hyde has been a member of SI Cannock & District for 25 years and to mark the occasion she was presented with a long service certificate.\u00a0 At the AGM, out-going \u00a0\u00a0President Lynne Tuckley was pleased to acknowledge the years of service to Soroptimist International \u2013 and the Cannock & District club \u2013 that Lilian has given.<\/p>\n

Lilian has always been involved in many aspects of the Club’s work supporting women locally and throughout the world, joining others in raising awareness of many issues, in fund raising and providing support.\u00a0 One of the things Lilian is particularly well known for in the Cannock club is the wonderful comfort bags she makes and helps to fill for the women victims of domestic violence who use the refuge provided locally by Pathway.\u00a0 Many of the women enter the refuge with only the clothes they are wearing – almost the first thing they are given is one of Lilian’s comfort bags, made out of pretty material and containing toiletries and underwear to enable that woman to have something of her own and maintain some dignity at such a traumatic time of her life. Soroptimists and Pathway are grateful for the work Lilian does.<\/p>\n

President Lynne also mentioned Honorary member Georgina Ward who is currently unwell; her certificate will be presented very soon.<\/p>\n
