8th March 2018 – to celebrate International Women’s Day, President Sandra of SI Cardiff & District joined fellow soroptimists at SI Kenilworth for a for your supper event where there was communal singing led by Rebecca and Bruce Knight of Natural Voices. They began with warm up exercises, went on to simple songs and soon had everyone singing in harmony. One member painted thumb nails purple in honour of the day (IWD’s colour). Following a fish and chip supper, more singing followed.
£300 was raised for Friends of Sick Children in Malawi.
SI Cardiff and District has forged Friendship links with SI Kenilworth and District in England and with SI Gentofte in Denmark. Members of all three clubs have travelled to meet on many occasions and have co-operated to support projects and fund raising events. The relationship continues and the exchange of ideas between the clubs has been very positive and worthwhile.
Highlights of the events and co-operation between our clubs include: SI Cardiff members joining SI Kenilworth and District in a Swimathon in support of the Alzheimers Society and Help for Heroes. Members from SI Kenilworth & District reciprocated by making the trip to support SI Cardiff & District in a White water rafting event in support of Water Aid.
SI Cardiff & District has also hosted members from SI Gentofte and visited Copenhagen to meet our Danish friends and colleagues.
The club continues to explore other opportunities to form Friendship links with other SI Clubs and is open to approaches from our friends and colleagues across the world.
