Pedal Power hires bikes to both disabled and able-bodied clients enabling exercise, in a controlled location supervised by dedicated staff and volunteers.  It has two locations in Cardiff – Pontcanna caravan park and Cardiff Bay (next to the former Dr Who exhibition)  This small charity was chosen by President Ann Thomas in her year as President 2016/17 as one she wished to support and members were delighted to support this as the charity is highly regarded in Cardiff – in 2015 it was voted as Wales most admired charity.  Two events were held at which funds were raised. On Saturday 16th July 2016 a lovely afternoon tea was served at Pedal Power’s cafe in Pontcanna Cardiff. After tea, Sybil the founder of this amazing charity detailed the history of the project which teaches and encourages adults and children to ride bicycles. The range of bikes available is amazing and no one is turned away, assessments are undertaken and suitable bikes are found no matter whether you are fit and healthy or have a disability. Bicycles are available to hire by anyone and the service is open 7 days a week run by a small team of employees and dedicated volunteers. The cafe is also open everyday and the homemade cakes are highly recommended! A little known charity that does such wonderful work in the beautiful city of Cardiff.  In March 2017, President Ann hosted a Charity Dinner and part of the proceeds of that event were donated to Pedal Power.  In June 2017 Ann and a few members attended the quiz night fundraiser at Pedal Power and came 3rd.  Apparently, there were more than 3 teams at the quiz!

In 2018/19 President Jen Hancock is also supporting Pedal Power.  A quiz and afternoon tea was held on 2nd June 2018.  For a report, see
