SI St. Martin celebrates 20 years

The Soroptimist International of the Caribbean Network joined hands with the Soroptimist International Club of Saint Martin in celebrating the latter’s twentieth anniversary. It was an event of fellowship, food and fun.
The celebration kick started on May 29, 2014 with cocktails at the Beach Plaza Hotel and for those who were not there here are some of the pictorial highlights:

The following day saw French clubs along with the Caribbean clubs sharing details of the wonderful work that the clubs are doing in spreading the work of soroptimism in their countries. It was an opportunity to exchange ideas as the issues affecting women are not discriminative of age, race, colour or class. See below for pictorial highlights:

May 30, 2014 saw the clubs showcasing their talent in the soiree culturelle. For those who have forgotten their history, it was a refreshing history class given modern day style with poetry, singing, dancing, modeling…you name it.
On Saturday the 31st of May 2014, the month ended in fine style as all dressed in their finery for the grand gala. There they had a change in the guard in the midst of superb entertainment and fine dining.
The celebration ended with a visit to the islands of Anguilla and St. Barth. Our club in Anguilla greeted us in fine style and presented Club Saint Martin with anniversary gifts.

As was stated earlier we also paid a visit to the island of Saint Barth. It is hoped that a new club will be chartered under the guidance of Club Saint Martin. For those of you who were not there here are some of the scenes you missed

We again congratulate club Saint Martin on achieving a milestone. For all of us who were in attendance the event was a reinvigorating experience as we were reminded that despite cultural and linguistic differences, the spirit of soroptimism is alive and well. The challenge extended thus is for the clubs to continue their outreach and to expand it in all corners of the globe.

Perhaps the greatest highlight is that the spirit of soroptimism has transcended cultural borders and languages.
