The Resolution continues “as part of Soroptimist International Great Britain & Ireland (SIGBI), the National Association joins in the worldwide condemnation of the atrocity which has occurred in Nigeria. The Soroptimist International Jamaica National Association urges the Nigerian government to take immediate action to recover the over 200 school girls and return them to their families.

We urge the international community to assist Nigeria and adjoining countries to help end this human trafficking atrocity.

The Soroptimist International Jamaica National Association opposes all forms of violence against women and girls in light of our organization’s focus and programme action regarding anti-human trafficking. Women and girls must be allowed to learn without fear of violence and unjust treatment so that they can become equal citizens of the World.

We join with the Minister of Youth & Culture the Hon. Lisa Hanna in expressing Jamaica’s concern over the
abduction of the school girls in Nigeria and demand their safe return to their families”.
