Message from Region President Pam

Thanks to all for messages of congratulation and support as I enter this year of office as your Region President.

As a second generation Soroptimist celebrating 30 years of being a member of this vibrant organisation next year I am totally committed to the ethos and  raison d’être of Soroptimist International, globally, nationally and locally.

My theme for the year is STEAM

Soroptimists Together Enable  Education Always eMpowering, and the tag line – Let’s get up steam and mover forward together!

STEAM also stands for Science, Technology Engineering Arts Maths. We are at a time when education for women and girls is even more important and ways of engaging them with Science subjects is significant; however none of us are one-sided, so adding Arts to the equation is vital in providing a rounded individual.

As the daughter of two RAF pilots I’m planning a Study day with British Women Pilots Association and Aviatrix Women in Aviation which will be both fun and challenging.

I hope to encourage more joint club events and projects as well as cross Region events, while promoting participation with other organizations at both Club and Regional level.

If we thoroughly understand and enjoy what we do at all levels of Soroptimism then we are more likely to happily talk about that to other women so raising awareness and  thus increasing membership.

Your Region Council is working hard on your behalf, listening to the Regional representatives and attempting to find solutions to any issues which are brought to us.

We have three new members on Council who bring new and exciting ideas in areas of Programme Action and Development.

Finally I hope that levels of support for each other, fun shared together and commitment to Soroptimist values  will be exceeded throughout the year!
