To minimise costs to Committee members, at the last Committee meeting it was decided to limit face-to-face meetings to essential times with liaison via email.

Club meetings have been monthly since April 2017 (excluding December) with attendance slowly increasing. After much discussion, the Connah’s Quay Council Offices venue continues with its ease of access, & good facilities & support by the Council administration team. Additional events;

  • A Christmas social evening at a local restaurant arranged by one of the members
  • Attendance at the Connah’s Quay Christmas Fayre in the Civic Hall to raise awareness & fundraise

 Marketing

Region President & Committee Lead were interviewed for Radio Deeside at the Christmas Fayre

Free advertising in the Inside Flintshire magazine have not always achieved

Flyers put into local libraries by members

Dedicated mobile phone & email for contact

2 further interested women (including a local Councillor) hope to attend the February meeting & an invitation has been sent to a local woman who has been a past member of another club

Members from the Mother Club, SI Rhyl, a member from SI Nortwich & SI Wallasey have been supportive at meetings which is much appreciated.

 Projects

Deeside Women’s Refuge

6 ‘exit’ buckets were filled with donations of household items e.g. washing-up liquid & toilet rolls for women moving on from the Refuge: taken to the Refuge by one of the members

Charity funds raised during December will be used for knickers & socks needed for the women

Mary’s Meal backpacks

Planning for this project is underway

Meru Women’s Garden Project

Region Ambassador Shirley gave a talk & raised funds at the meeting with Meru produce

Event to mark International Women’s Day in March

Suggested by one of the members, planning has begun to put an open event on with speakers, displays & fundraising

Finances

A tight reign continues on costs. Meeting attendees give a £1 donation to help build some capital for the Club & some fundraising has been undertaken both at meetings (for the General Fund) & events (for the Charity Fund)
