Federation Management Board Meeting at Cardiff Conference October 2017

Charitable Status: Please look for regular updates on the progress of Charitable Status via Frequently Asked Questions, Soroptimist News and SIGBI mailings.

SIGBI Trading Limited: has now been registered and the Board is looking for Soroptimists who have experience of a Trading Company and who might be interested in serving on the Board.

Chartering New Clubs: The guidelines have been revised and updated, (should be on the website).

School Clubs: The package for Schools Clubs was agreed and clubs are encouraged to engage with their local schools to take this initiative forward. (Contact me if you would like a copy of Guidelines as not on website yet)

SIGBI Growth Plan: Clubs are congratulated on their engagement and work when attending the Growth Plan training days

Proof readers for the Soroptimist News: A small group of people proof read the Soroptimist News every quarter. If any member has experience of proof reading President Sue Biggs would like to hear from you.

General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR): The General Data Protection Regulations has undergone significant changes and we need to be compliant by May 2018. At the Federation Management Board meeting in Cardiff, Gina Coad, SIGBI Executive Officer, presented a detailed paper to the Board and a working party was set up to look at the implications of the changes and how these will be communicated to members. A paper on Safeguarding was also presented and a Safeguarding Officer will be appointed.

Meru Garden Project: The Federation Project is due to finish in 2019. Director of Programme Barbara Dixon has been tasked with consulting the membership, to see if we want another Federation Project.

SIGBI President: Immediate Past President Ann presented papers on Valuing Members; Centenary Celebrations; Reorganisation of the Soroptimist International Board and the Working Group looking at the S I Convention 2023. Three venues have been shortlisted and this will be discussed further at the next Board meeting in January.

The next FMB meeting is the 12th to the 14th of January 2018 so if you have any issues you wish to raise with the Board I need to be notified by the 8th of December 2017.
