International Women’s Day 2020

International Women’s Day – I am Generation Equality:

March 8th is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity – this years theme I am Generation Equality:

Realising Women’s Rights. The theme is aligned with UN Women’s new multigenerational campaign, Generation Equality, which marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women’s network or media hub is solely responsible for International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action – whatever that looks like globally at a local level. But one thing is for sure, International Women’s Day has been occurring for well over a century – and continue’s to grow from strength to strength.

Soroptimist clubs throughout the Region get involved and hold special events for International Women’s Day:

This year the Region Cheshire North Wales and Wirral worked together on a Social Media Campaign Equal for Equal. Clubs posted photos and information about their Events for International Women’s Day, using the dual for equal template
