Congratulations to Region Clubs<\/h2>\n

This year our Region clubs again supported this campaign #OrangeTheWorld #16DaysOfActivism against gender based violence.<\/p>\n

Thanks to all our #Soroptimist<\/a> Region clubs who have taken part in this campaign either by taking action, holding events or posting Social Media Campaigns.<\/div>\n

Congratulations South Caernarfonshire<\/h2>\n

For an excellent Social Media Campaign ‘She Only…” posted each day from 25th November, the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10th December, Human Rights Day- to mark #16DaysOfActivism,\u00a0#OrangeTheWorld.<\/p>\n

There has been much acclaim on Face book – Club, Region, Federation and world wide for this \u00a0innovative, interesting, sometimes poignant, and emotive campaign.<\/p>\n

The Region Communications team asked the club WHY and HOW they achieved this<\/strong><\/p>\n

SI South Caernarfonshire members says: “Following our successful \u201corange stone campaign \u201c in 2021 a Programme Action \u00a0sub committee set about planning for \u00a02022<\/p>\n

We decided to use orange shoes based on thoughts about the impact of piles \u00a0of shoes in the holocaust and a campaign in Italy where shoes \u00a0were nailed to a wall to represent murdered women<\/p>\n

We rapidly decided we could not waste wearable shoes<\/p>\n

As the theme was femicide we thought of photos in situations where women are more vulnerable to \u00a0very serious domestic abuse eg going out without him to her sisters hen do<\/p>\n

We thought the last one day 16 should be a woman driven to suicide<\/p>\n

We took quite a lot of photos and \u00a0rapidly realised the empty shoes \u00a0had to be prominent and the photos \u00a0were more effective in black and white<\/p>\n

Luckily we had a member\u2019s \u00a0relative who could add the orange slogans and \u201ccolour the shoes orange\u201d<\/p>\n

Some scenes just did not work but eventually we settled on the 16 we used”<\/p>\n
