President Sue’s Olympic Swim
President Sue Dennis has chosen The Timmy Mason Trust as her special charity this year, the year of the London Olympics, President Sue is raising money this summer by doing, in her words, her “Olympic Swim”.
Throughout the months of June, July and August, Sue will be swimming regularly each week. Members of the club, friends and family have been asked to sponsor her efforts, and also to hazard a guess as to how many lengths of the pool she will achieve in that time.
Results and the winner will be announced at the club’s meeting on 5th September.
Timmy Mason Trust was set up in memory of Timmy who died from a rare form of cancer in October 2011. Money raised by the charity goes to help other children suffering from cancer either for holidays or for travel in order to benefit from treatment.
Soroptimists also took part in “welly painting” to decorate the trust’s charity boxes for donations at their meetings this year. President Sue hopes there is still time for others to sponsor her final efforts at swimming.
President Sue raised £557.00!!! She swam 22,725 metres whilst swimming three days a week from 01 June until 31 August.
Well done President Sue and thank you to everyone who sponsored this fantastic fundraising event
