International Long Term Theme: Soroptimists for Education & Leadership

The Long Term Project concept was developed in 2008 as part of Soroptimist International’s strategic planning process and is a project that will be owned and operated by SI. The project, Soroptimists for Education and Leadership, was chosen by clubs around the world and will be launched at the SI Convention in Montreal in July 2011 replacing the Quadrennial Project. The project will be the “centerpiece” of how Soroptimist works to achieve its mission to inspire action to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of clubs and international partnerships. It will be this international project that brings Soroptimist clubs and members from around the world together to work toward a common goal. Soroptimist clubs will continue to work on club, region/union or federation projects that transform the lives of women and girls.

SI is poised to transform women’s lives through this new project that will be implemented in almost 3,000 Soroptimist clubs in 123 countries. SI looks forward to launching a Soroptimist project that is designed, managed and operated by Soroptimists and Soroptimist staff that will change the lives of women and girls and will:

  • Appeal to existing and future members
  • Have clearly stated objectives and measurable outcomes
  • Be evaluated regularly and updated and revised as needed
  • Be appealing to outside funders and the media
  • Provide potential for partnerships at all levels
  • Reflect the mission and purpose of Soroptimist and contribute positively to the Soroptimist brand
