Rachel Horman-Brown KC (Hon) Award winning solicitor and head of Family Law www:\/\/watsonramsbottom.com\/team\/rachel-horman<\/a> came to speak to us about Coercive control, stalking and Domestic Abuse.<\/p>\n

Rachel has recently been appointed as Honorary\u00a0 Kings Counsel and was cited\u00a0 in the Chancellor’s speech as having’ shaped both policy and law\u00a0 around coercive control’. She also chairs www.paladinservice.co.uk<\/a> universal expert stalking advocacy support for all victims driving lasting societal change.<\/p>\n

Rachel presented a very sobering insight into ‘murder in slow motion ‘ and how stalkers\/abusers steal and take lives if their behaviours become unchallenged.<\/p>\n

Dr Maxine Power gave an uplifting presentation about “The Evolution of Women in leadership in the UK Ambulance Service”.<\/p>\n

\"\"Dr Maxine Power is an improvement leader with over 30 years experience leading improvements in the NHS. Initially trained as a clinician Maxine has had an eclectic career working across Clinical practice and academia in a variety of settings. Maxine was previously the executive director of quality innovation and improvement at the Northwest Ambulance Service. She is currently the Director of Improvement at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust with responsibility for supporting individuals teams and organisations to improve quality safety equity productivity and effectiveness. Maxine also presents nationally and internationally on systems leadership for quality safety improvement and digital and is an Honorary Professor of Improvement Science with the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre.<\/p>\n

Margaret Burns came to speak to us about the amazing work being done by The Freedom Project.\u00a0https:\/\/freedom-project-west-cumbria.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n

Margaret is a Soroptimist but also a Trustee for the Freedom Project, a charity dedicated to supporting survivors and perpetrators of Domestic Abuse. She has expressed her privilege and passion in contributing to ensure service users receive the support they need. Margaret’s involvement in the Freedom Project reflects her commitment to improving the lives of others and her dedication to helping individuals and families to achieve optimal happiness and well-being.<\/p>\n

Margaret’s presented the Project’s mission to break the cycle of abuse.<\/p>\n

The Freedom Project is a charitable organisation and SI Cockermouth were able to present a cheque for \u00a3762.38 the proceeds from a recent\u00a0 Wine Tasting event.<\/p>\n
