{"id":4809,"date":"2020-11-26T00:58:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-25T23:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/?p=4809"},"modified":"2020-11-26T13:22:47","modified_gmt":"2020-11-26T12:22:47","slug":"soroptimists-visit-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2020\/11\/26\/soroptimists-visit-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Soroptimists &#8216;Visit&#8217; Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists have been to Italy \u2013 virtually.<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Jesi-link-up-members.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4818\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Jesi-link-up-members-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Jesi-link-up-members-226x300.jpg 226w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Jesi-link-up-members.jpg 771w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They marked the United Nations\u2019 (UN) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/observances\/ending-violence-against-women-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/a> by joining up with Soroptimists in Jesi at a special event.<\/p>\n<p>Women representing community, political and cultural life in Jesi were due to speak at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Crosby\u2019s President Chris Chua-Short gave a short presentation on the club, focussing on links with <a href=\"https:\/\/swaca.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sefton Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Aid<\/a>. She thanked her Italian counterpart, President Catia Mastantuono, for the invitation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Orange-the-world-globe-300x300-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4814 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Orange-the-world-globe-300x300-1-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Orange-the-world-globe-300x300-1-150x150.gif 150w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2020\/11\/Orange-the-world-globe-300x300-1-300x300.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The UN slogan \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/en\/what-we-do\/ending-violence-against-women\/take-action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Orange the World<\/a>\u2019 draws attention to the campaign. Members therefore featured \u2018something orange\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>SI Crosby forged a friendship link with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.soroptimist.it\/club\/jesi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SI Jesi<\/a> when the Italian club was founded, two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Cynthia Ashworth, who co-ordinates Crosby\u2019s contacts with its link clubs, organised the \u2018trip to Italy\u2019. \u201cWe were delighted to join our Italian sisters to mark this special UN Day,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jesi Soroptimist Denise Black-Pozzi set up this opportunity for us. We all look forward to getting to know each other in person once the pandemic has passed.
