[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists have funded eight laptops for their local Waterloo Primary School. These will enable more children to continue daily school life at home during the current crisis.<\/p>\n

The Soroptimists\u2019 donation adds to the school\u2019s much-needed stock of laptops. Headteacher Ruth Baldwin said: \u201cThis is enabling children from Reception to Year 6 to access nearly the same learning as the children at home, with teacher and teaching assistant input throughout the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Staff are trying to ensure that children\u2019s gaps in knowledge and understanding are kept to a minimum. \u201cThe vast majority of our remote learning throughout the day are live lessons – and the teacher and teaching assistant remain on the \u2018Meet\u2019 \u2026 to ensure that the child is supported with their learning\u201d added Mrs Baldwin.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Here is a description of a Waterloo Primary School<\/a> Remote Learning class ‘in action’: “Year 4 took a virtual trip to Candy Land! They used their five senses to describe what they could see, hear, taste, smell and touch; everyone used great expanded noun phrases and similes in their writing.<\/p>\n

“As we are studying Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in English, we decided to have a ‘sweet’ breakfast together during our lesson. We imagined that we were Charlie, eating a truly, scrumptious Wonka Bar and used adjectives to describe the taste and texture of our food. We discussed how these adjectives can also be used to describe our favourite chocolate bars!”<\/p>\n

This donation is just one example of the Soroptimist club’s practical action<\/a> during the pandemic.<\/p>\n
