Club member Ann Dickinson at the keyboards provided a musical background throughout the afternoon. This was the Soroptimists\u2019 first opportunity for many months to get together.<\/p>\n<p>Special guest was Ruth Baldwin, Headteacher at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterlooprimaryschool.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Waterloo Primary School<\/a>. Soroptimist International, Crosby, is supporting children\u2019s learning at the school, and the garden party aimed to raise funds for reading-for-pleasure books.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1628280474076-72112316-9df2-7&#8243; include=&#8221;5494,5495,5493,5496,5512,5509,5511,5501&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Highlight of the party was the \u2018Bean Bag Olympics\u2019 contest, hosted by President Chris\u2019s husband. The tense final saw headteacher Ruth take a creditable bronze position. Medals and trophies will be treasured!<\/p>\n<p>Margaret Davidson co-ordinated the afternoon\u2019s refreshments. \u201cSo many club members helped out both beforehand and on the day,\u201d she said. \u201cAll the cakes and scones were home-made. We had a delicious tea \u2013 in the sunshine, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fundraising co-ordinator Pam McKee expressed her delight. \u201cThis was a whole-club effort \u2013 donations of goodies, many helping hands and (not to be underestimated) the clearer-uppers at the end.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President Chris announced the final total &#8211; \u00a3747.54 &#8211; and added, &#8220;This will enable our club to fund a huge number of books for Waterloo Primary School, and thus support the children\u2019s learning.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1628280474102-fc7cbc68-0cd1-0&#8243; include=&#8221;5499,5498,5497,5500,5502,5504,5508,5503&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Crosby Soroptimists held a successful \u2018fundraiser\u2019 party in President Chris Smith\u2019s garden.
