{"id":6368,"date":"2023-06-16T18:16:30","date_gmt":"2023-06-16T17:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/?p=6368"},"modified":"2023-07-11T16:39:28","modified_gmt":"2023-07-11T15:39:28","slug":"much-ado-about-nothing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2023\/06\/16\/much-ado-about-nothing\/","title":{"rendered":"Much Ado &#8230; About Nothing?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5>Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists have enjoyed their first visit to the Shakespeare North Playhouse.<\/h5>\n<p>On the bill at this magnificent timber framed <a href=\"https:\/\/shakespearenorthplayhouse.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shakespearean theatre in Prescot<\/a> was \u2018Much Ado About Nothing\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The four performers were members of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.handlebards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The HandleBards<\/a> \u2013 Shakespearean actors who cycle from venue to venue with their set, props and costumes.<\/p>\n<p>Described as \u201cUnhinged and bonkers \u2026 laugh-out-loud\u2026\u201d, this production lived up to the hype. The youngsters in their school groups for this matinee performance really enjoyed the whole experience \u2013 even if the finer points of the plot passed them by.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1689089728347-d52e28df-6f03-10&#8243; include=&#8221;6373,6370,6374,6375&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Soroptimist Ann McCracken who organised the visit said: \u201cIt was delightful to watch the play in the Cockpit Theatre \u2013 it is such a lovely venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe then sat in the sun in the Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden, talking about two \u2018masters\u2019 whose whole lives centred on the English language.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1689089728357-05abd56b-911b-9&#8243; include=&#8221;6372,6444,6377,6376&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists have enjoyed their first visit to the Shakespeare North Playhouse.
