{"id":6726,"date":"2023-12-06T18:44:07","date_gmt":"2023-12-06T17:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/?p=6726"},"modified":"2023-12-06T18:44:07","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T17:44:07","slug":"a-ditty-christmas-and-sandy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2023\/12\/06\/a-ditty-christmas-and-sandy\/","title":{"rendered":"A Ditty, Christmas &#8211; and Sandy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5>Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists showcased an award-winning Programme Action project at the South Lancashire regional meeting.<\/h5>\n<p>A ditty, based on the project \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2023\/09\/20\/one-stitch-at-a-time-is-a-winner\/\">One Stitch at a Time<\/a>\u201d, tells how the club\u2019s members have created patchwork blankets for the charity Knit for Peace. As member Terry Francis read the poem, the Soroptimists demonstrated with simple props of yarn and squares, to show what they have achieved.<\/p>\n<p>Also on show were individually hand-crafted blankets, indicating how some members have taken their skills beyond simple squares.<\/p>\n<p>Crosby\u2019s display was one of many at the regional meeting. The event gave clubs the opportunity to showcase Programme Action work that really does \u2018make a difference\u2019.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1701884424093-c315b178-c53f-7&#8243; include=&#8221;6727,6728,6729,6730&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SI Crosby also set up a fundraising stall, with President Jill Boggan turning saleswoman for the day. The Christmas-themed tree decorations made by club members proved so popular that \u00a3200 was raised for the club\u2019s charity \u2018pot\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>At the Region\u2019s Council meeting, Crosby Soroptimist Sandy Taylor was installed as President Elect. Sandy has led the Region once before and is looking forward to a second term of office.
