Summertime \u2013 and once again it\u2019s time for local organisations to call on help from Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists.<\/h5>\n

The annual Open Garden day at Crosby Hall attracted, as usual, large crowds. This is a major fundraising event for Crosby Hall Educational Trust<\/a> (CHET) \u2013 a local institution that the Soroptimists have supported since its foundation.<\/p>\n

Visitors are always ready for refreshments so members of SI Crosby staffed the pop-up caf\u00e9 throughout the day. The CHET team know the work is in safe hands. Thankfully, dealing with the cows was not part of the job![\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1719736546458-b9c7ef59-5fcd-3″ include=”6981,6983,6982″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sefton Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Aid<\/a> (SWACA) is a longstanding focus of the Soroptimists\u2019 practical service. To support the charity\u2019s fundraising efforts, members helped prepare and serve the annual Strawberry Tea.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1719736546468-e99deeff-60aa-8″ include=”6984,6985,6986″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Showers and sunshine greeted visitors to the summer Garden Party at St Joseph\u2019s Hospice<\/a>, Thornton. Once again, Soroptimists were on hand in the refreshment marquee for the day.<\/p>\n

A traditional feature of the party is the parade of teddy bears (and other cuddly toys). The Soroptimist President is always asked to be on the judging panel. President Sharon Ryan therefore joined David Bricknell (Chair of Trustees) and Mike Parr (Chief Executive) in the unenviable task of selecting the Best Dressed, the Most Unusual and the Oldest from the host of cuddlies being held aloft.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1719736546476-8c3c7d96-789a-9″ include=”6987,6989,6991″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Yes, a busy summer of service for Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists serving refreshments. But all that volunteering enables educational opportunities for youngsters; support for women and children through the impact of domestic abuse; and special, quality end-of-life care for patients.
