{"id":7095,"date":"2024-09-26T21:35:14","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T20:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/?p=7095"},"modified":"2024-09-26T21:35:14","modified_gmt":"2024-09-26T20:35:14","slug":"heart-health-showcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2024\/09\/26\/heart-health-showcase\/","title":{"rendered":"Heart Health Showcase"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Over forty women recently attended Crosby Soroptimists\u2019 heart health awareness event.<\/h4>\n<p>This free session was held in partnership with Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (LHCH).\u00a0The Trust\u2019s team aim to \u2019spread the word\u2019 in the community about women\u2019s heart health, including risk factors, lifestyle choices and treatments available.<\/p>\n<p>Soroptimists dealt with advance bookings and were on hand to register all attendees. Simple red \u2018heart\u2019 brooches made club members very visible and proved a talking point. Refreshments helped everyone relax and there was a buzz of conversation in the hall.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1727382388764-ed910021-9ff4-2&#8243; include=&#8221;7098,7099,7096&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The programme opened with LHCH\u2019s presentation. Signs and symptoms of heart problems, gender inequalities, the menopause and genetic factors were all touched on, prompting much interest and many follow-on questions.<\/p>\n<p>The women could then choose to have a short one-to-one session with a health practitioner, covering weight, blood pressure and other measures. This, again, was a chance to raise specific queries.<\/p>\n<p>About the attendees, Gill Donnelly (of LHCH) said: \u201cFeedback I received from the ladies was very positive and I hope the team have made a difference to all involved.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;white&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1727382388772-0f2ac9c3-2808-7&#8243; include=&#8221;7117,7101,7100&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Soroptimist Jane Daly, who co-ordinated the event said: \u201cOur Crosby members were inspired by a similar session that Soroptimists in Liverpool had organised. Targeting women, and working in partnership with the hospital, was a really positive experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOur event took advantage of facilities at Crosby Library.
