{"id":7434,"date":"2025-04-15T20:00:45","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T19:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/?p=7434"},"modified":"2025-04-15T20:14:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T19:14:20","slug":"voyage-of-the-dawn-treaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2025\/04\/15\/voyage-of-the-dawn-treaders\/","title":{"rendered":"Voyage of the Dawn Treaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Crosby Soroptimists&#8217; long-awaited trip to the ABBA Voyage concert began well before dawn.<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7437\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-1-300x165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-1-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-1.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Twenty six Dancing Queens (Soroptimists and friends) made the long journey down to the ABBA Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>We didn&#8217;t know what to expect, but the show was well worth the effort of getting there. Great tunes &#8211; lots of streaming lights: ABBA music is very uplifting. Incredibly the four singers appear as digital avatars (ABBAtars?). They were extremely life-like and it was impossible to tell they weren&#8217;t really on stage! The 10-piece live band were brilliant, too.<a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7436 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-5-166x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"166\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-5-166x300.jpg 166w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/files\/2025\/04\/2025-04-ABBA-Voyage-5.jpg 568w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Casting inhibitions aside, and entering into the spirit of the day, some of our party went to town with their outfits. And why not?<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Then, for the Super Troupers, it was the long haul up the motorways again. On the last leg of the journey we found ourselves on a diversion as the M57 was closed. Mamma Mia! Late at night we therefore unexpectedly visited parts of Liverpool that some of us had only heard about in legend.
