{"id":7721,"date":"2025-09-08T22:45:54","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T21:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/?p=7721"},"modified":"2025-09-12T20:46:03","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T19:46:03","slug":"best-foot-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/crosby\/2025\/09\/08\/best-foot-forward\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Foot Forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>Soroptimists hide treasure in plain sight.<\/h4>\n<p>Crosby Soroptimists\u2019 latest fundraising event involved a treasure map, clues in rhyme and a trail round Little Crosby.<\/p>\n<p>Over 40 people took up the challenge to explore this local village which is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefton.gov.uk\/media\/2020\/crosby-hall-little-crosby-advisory-leaflet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conservation area<\/a> in itself. The event raised over \u00a3500 for SI Crosby\u2019s charity fund.<\/p>\n<p>The specially-drawn map led participants through the village and \u2013 eventually \u2013 to the parish hall. On the way, a series of rhyming clues set everyone a-puzzling.<\/p>\n<p>Several local residents had kindly entered into the spirit of the day and hosted clues in their front gardens. There were critters to look for, plus historical items, wayside features and memorials. One of the hosts has since asked to keep the clue \u2013 a row of peg dolls on her gate \u2013 as her daughter loved seeing them.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7731&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221;][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1757706319606-4b56dac7-d2fd-2&#8243; include=&#8221;7722,7723,7725,7724&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For anyone not wishing to take part in the walking trail there was a map-based \u2018treasure hunt\u2019 in the village hall. The hall was also the final stop for everyone else, where the Soroptimists\u2019 warm welcome (afternoon tea and a cuppa) was much appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>Club member Jill Boggan, who leads the Soroptimists\u2019 fundraising team, drew up the map and the clues. Jill said: \u201cA big thank you to villager John Stoddern and all other residents who supported this event. From our outline proposals to the day itself, they have been really helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crosby Soroptimist President Pat Williams was delighted with the success of the initiative. \u201cThe trail was a novel way in which to find out more about this beautiful local village.
