Have you ever wanted to toast marshmallows on an open fire? Crosby Soroptimists helped ensure that Lunt Meadows Nature Reserve was just the place to be on Bonfire Night.<\/h5>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Wildlife Trust\u2019s Learning Centre was full of people (and their dogs) all enjoying a peaceful celebration. It was Bonfire Night without fireworks \u2013 very dog-friendly. There were dazzling displays in the distance \u2013 but nothing ear-splitting on the reserve.<\/p>\n

The Soroptimists helped in various ways, including supervising the children toasting marshmallows at the garden fire-pit. Some youngsters kept coming back for more as they enjoyed the experience of creating a hot DIY snack. However, with health and safety in mind, the Soroptimists kept a sharp lookout for the odd miscreant or two who thought it fun to run away with a toasting fork.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Members set up a table of hand-made ‘crochet critters’ key rings and bag charms, on sale at \u00a32 each. The club\u2019s new banner made an eye-catching backdrop.<\/p>\n

Sunshine Tea Rooms of Ince Blundell provided hot and cold drinks, as well as hot dogs, burgers, Scouse and ice cream. They did a roaring trade. Everyone hopes it won\u2019t be too long before a Sunshine caf\u00e9 at the Learning Centre is up and running.<\/p>\n

Crosby\u2019s Soroptimists are in partnership with the\u00a0Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside<\/a>\u00a0(LWT) in a long-term project at Lunt Meadow<\/a>s. Members were therefore delighted once again to support the Trust in what turned out to be a highly successful venture.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
