Over one hundred people braved atrocious weather to support Crosby Soroptimists\u2019 fundraising bingo evening.<\/h5>\n

St Helen\u2019s Church Hall was packed, with many visitors paying on the door. Forget the weather \u2013 let\u2019s have some fun!<\/p>\n

Soroptimist Pam McKee was the bingo caller, coping with a dodgy microphone and a temperamental number machine. As ever, Pam carried on regardless, with wit and humorous banter.<\/p>\n

Sadly (from the audience point of view) there was only one false call which earned the traditional \u00a0\u2018Benny Hill walk\u2019 round the hall. Obviously everyone else kept a sharp eye on their cards to avoid a similar penalty.<\/p>\n

The raffle prizes were enormous including\u00a0a pamper hamper, speciality food and gardening goodies. There were also spot prizes and cash prizes.<\/p>\n

Club President Pat Williams was absolutely delighted that the evening had gone so well, especially as the proceeds exceeded \u00a31,200. Crosby Soroptimists are donating this sum to the Liverpool Women\u2019s Hospital (LWH) campaign for a HIPEC machine. Earlier this year club members heard details of this groundbreaking specialist treatment<\/a> for ovarian and other abdominal cancers, and pledged to support the LWH Charity<\/a>\u2019s fundraising initiatives.<\/p>\n
