{"id":4602,"date":"2020-10-29T13:46:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T12:46:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/?page_id=4602"},"modified":"2020-11-08T15:54:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-08T14:54:09","slug":"club-charities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/club-charities\/","title":{"rendered":"Club Charities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each year, our club chooses projects to work on that tackle one of the five Programme Areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economic Empowerment<\/li>\n<li>Education<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Food Security and Healthcare<\/li>\n<li>Violence and Conflict Resolution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Last year, we supported The Lily Pad Appeal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chartwellcancertrust.co.uk\/lily-pad-appeal\/\">https:\/\/chartwellcancertrust.co.uk\/lily-pad-appeal\/<\/a>, raising funds for a new integrated paediatric ward at Croydon University Hospital. \u201c<em>Despite having to halt all traditional charity fund-raising activities in March because of the covid-19 pandemic, the Lily Pad Appeal at the Chartwell Cancer Trust has told supporters that work has begun on the multi-million-pound redevelopment of a site within Croydon\u2019s largest hospital, with an expected completion date of spring 2021.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/11\/image-CCT.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4752 \" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/11\/image-CCT-224x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"301\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/11\/image-CCT-224x300.jpeg 224w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/11\/image-CCT.jpeg 765w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also supported Multiple Systems Atrophy Trust <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msatrust.org.uk\/\">https:\/\/www.msatrust.org.uk\/<\/a>, raising a whopping \u00a37,200 which went towards funding a nurse\u2019s salary and expenses for two months.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2019\/05\/msa-cheque-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2350 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2019\/05\/msa-cheque-1-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2019\/05\/msa-cheque-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2019\/05\/msa-cheque-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2019\/05\/msa-cheque-1-768x767.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2019\/05\/msa-cheque-1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year our president has chosen\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.caysh.org\/\">http:\/\/www.caysh.org\/<\/a>, a charity close to her heart, \u201c<em>working with young people facing homelessness in London, providing safe homes and support to enable them to achieve their potential.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/CAYSH.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4606\" src=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/CAYSH-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/CAYSH.png 300w, https:\/\/sigbi.org\/croydon-and-district\/files\/2020\/10\/CAYSH-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All our work is linked to the Sustainable Development Goals whether it\u2019s local, national or international. All projects work towards ending poverty, eradicating hunger, providing education for all and preserving the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the other projects that we have supported over the
