A mum is given two squ<\/span><span class=\"s5\">a<\/span><span class=\"s5\">res, one is kept<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">with baby and one is kept on mum<\/span><span class=\"s5\">\u2019<\/span><span class=\"s5\">s body, every 12 hours they are swapped. They<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> help the mother and baby to bond by smell in cases they cannot physically touch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s6\">5 inch <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Knitting Pattern<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> \u2013knit 2<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s5\">20 g double knitting wool, 4 mm knitting needles<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"s7\">1. <span class=\"s5\">Cast on 28 stitches.<\/span><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"s7\">2. <span class=\"s5\">Knit 6 rows in garter stitch.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s7\">3. <span class=\"s5\">Row 7 \u2013 Knit <\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s7\">4. <span class=\"s5\">Row 8 \u2013 Knit 4 stitches, purl to last 4 stitches, k5.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s7\">5. <span class=\"s5\">Repeat the last 2 rows 11 times more.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s7\">6. <span class=\"s5\">Complete with a garter border by knitting 5 rows.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s7\">7. <span class=\"s5\">Cast off.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Purple Hearts<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s5\">Purple Hearts <\/span><span class=\"s5\">are included in memory boxes given to bereaved families by the Care After Death team. Each heart is placed with a deceased relative and a matching one given to family member, to help with their bereavement. These hearts will be donated to The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s8\">P<\/span><span class=\"s8\">urple<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> double knitting wool, <\/span><span class=\"s8\">No.8 (4<\/span><span class=\"s8\">mm<\/span><span class=\"s8\">)<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> knitting needles<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"s9\">1. <span class=\"s8\">Cast on <\/span><span class=\"s8\">5 <\/span><span class=\"s8\">stitches.<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> Knit this row.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">2. <span class=\"s10\">Increase the first stitch of this row, by knitting in the front and back of the stitch (KFB). Knit to the end of the row.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">3. <span class=\"s10\">Knit the row.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">4. <span class=\"s10\">Knit to the last stitch, and increase it (KFB).<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">5. <span class=\"s10\">Knit the row.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">6. <span class=\"s10\">Increase the first stitch of this row (KFB), and knit to the end of the row.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">7. <span class=\"s10\">Knit rows 7- 10.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">8. <span class=\"s10\">Cut the yarn leaving a tail a couple inches long, and push your work to the bottom of the needle it\u2019s currently on.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">9. <span class=\"s10\">Repeat from No.1 to No.8<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">10. <span class=\"s10\">Now join the two pieces of knit work, by knitting a row across them.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">11. <span class=\"s10\">Knit the next four rows.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">12. <span class=\"s10\">Decrease the first and last stitches of this row, by knitting two stitches together (k2tog). Knit the stitches in between normally.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">13. <span class=\"s10\">Knit this row. Repeat the two last steps, until you have only two stitches left.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"s9\">14. <span class=\"s10\">Cut the yarn, take your tapestry needle with the yarn through the remaining 2 stitches and \u00a0weave in all the ends<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Y Bonding Squares are used by mums whose babies are in a neo-natal unit.
