Last month Soroptimist Club Members from Scotland North attended the annual Federation Conference in Belfast. One of the most memorable events was an Anti-Trafficking March; this was to raise awareness of the plight of trafficked woman and girls.
Trafficking is not confined to other countries, it is happening here in the UK.
Women and girls are not only trafficked into the UK from other countries but there is evidence that they are trafficked around the country as well, mainly to service the sex industry. See The Purple Teardrop Campaign web site for more information.
