Proposal to Criminalise the Purchase of Sex in Scotland

Members of SI Dundee held a special meeting to discuss our response to MSP Rhoda Grant’s proposed Bill  to Criminalise the Purchase of Sex.

The club was determined that we would collectively respond to this proposal, to give our support to the Bill which would  make it an offence for a man to purchase sex. We believe that prostitutes are the victims not the criminals; passing this legislation would send a clear message that Scotland would  not tolerate this violence against women and girls. Evidence from other countries that have criminalised the purchase of sex, for example Sweden, has shown a reduction in prostitution and trafficking.
