Members of Soroptimist International of Dundee marked World Environment day (5th June) with an illustrated talk on ‘introduced Species – Friend or Foe?’ by Dr Richard Brinklow. He emphasised that most of the exotic plants which were introduced by the Victorian plant hunters enhance our gardens there are some species, hog weed, Himalayan balsam, Japanese knotweed and rhododendron, which have escaped the confines of the garden becoming a pest that chokes the natural vegetation of our river beds and urban wasteland.

He was introduced by Pauline Topham and thanked by President Elect Norma McGovern.
