SI Dundee and SI Crieff submitted a Resolution on Modern Slavery to the Gateshead Conference in November 2013.
The Motion:
Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland moves that this Federation takes the lead in campaigning to raise awareness of modern-day slavery.
Pam Cairns, IP President SI Dundee, was the proposer and Katie Lang, IP President SI Crieff, was the seconder.
The Resolution was carried with 96% majority.
Both clubs will work closely on the Resolution over the next two years. It is hoped that all clubs across the Federation will engage with the Modern Slavery Action Plan so that together Soroptimists can play a significant part in the fight against slavery.
