Soroptimists, like so many decent people from around the world, were shocked by last month’s slaughter of innocent children in Pakistan.
Taliban gunmen burst into the secondary school in Peshawar killing 132 children and several teachers. We all watched, in horror, as the TV coverage of the event beamed into our homes – a week before Christmas.
Is there no end to the suffering of innocent children, we ask?
Syrian refugees trying to survive in unusually severe winter storms, Nigerian school girls used as suicide bombers, victims of child labour enduring terrible conditions, sexually exploited kids in the brothels of India and Cambodia………………!
Club members held a vigil to remember the children and staff who died on December 16th.
Soroptimists continue to work to improve the lives of women and children through a variety of campaigns.
