On April 13th SI Dundee members supported Dundee Presbytery’s Modern Slavery Conference.
SI Dundee member and co-founding Trustee of The Free to Live Trust, Pam Cairns, facilitated the two hour conference. The aim of the evening was to raise awareness of modern slavery among delegates who were drawn from congregations from across Dundee.
The evening began with the showing of an abridge version of the film ‘Not My Life’ a hard hitting documentary on human trafficking from across the world. A period of round table discussion was followed by a presentation by Pam highlighting the response of UK governments to modern slavery. Two officers from Police Scotland rounded off the evening with information on local human trafficking issues.
SI Dundee members , who have considerable knowledge of human trafficking, helped with the discussion. Members also provided three stands: SI Dundee Exhibition Stand, a Fairtrade Stand and Dundee Women’s Aid. The Free to Live Trust stand showcased Seema’s Project.
