Services for Women: Past, Present and Future.

This annual event, which the club uses to show case its work and as a recruitment drive to interest potential new members, is SI Dundee’s contribution to Dundee Women’s Festival -DWF. This year SI Dundee member and Regional President-Elect Prue Watson was chair of DWF Committee and so heavily involved with this Dundee wide event.

The Speakers:

Past: Dr Sarah Browne outlined her research into the history of Women’s Aid in Scotland.

Present: Sinead Daly talked about the work of the Woman’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre in Dundee.

Future: Jacky Ramsay from Criminal Justice in Dundee outlined the plans for alternatives to custody for women offenders.

All of the speakers are experts in their fields and the talks they gave were interesting and inspirational highlighting the on-going efforts across Scotland to support women in difficult situations.

Forty two people attended the event which was held in the Invercarse Hotel.
