SISTEMA SCOTLAND TO DUNDEE

Michael Marra’s dream of bringing Sistema Scotland to Dundee is on track.

Music is being offered to all pupils in Primary 1, 2 and 3 in Claypotts and St Pius Primary Schools from August.. Michael’s daughter Alice and Claire Brennan, who have been raising funds through the charity Optimistic Sound, told Dundee Soroptimists that an operations manager has been appointed who will lead the project in Dundee and that advertisements are out for five musician teachers who will work with the children. Past President Fiona and President Elaine made the official handover of a cheque for £700 which was raised at a Fort Bar quiz.

Optimistic Sound is continuing to fundraise as there are great plans for expanding the project to other groups in Douglas.  It is expected that by the end of the initial five year project 400-500 young people will have had the opportunity to come together and make a ‘Big Noise’ and that the children will be heard across the City.
