President Jan’s Year 2011-2012

President Jan Ireland  2011-2012

Extract from President’s Report

My year as President of SI Dundee has been enjoyable thanks to you the members, who have embraced the theme for the year, Nourish and Educate and contributed to its success. The quality of your contribution to and enthusiasm for our range of projects including the SIGBI long term theme,  Educate to Lead, has been excellent.

We’ve experienced many emotions this year such as happiness, excitement, enjoyment, anxiety and also sadness following the deaths of two of our prominent members. Hilda Bury, our longest serving member, introduced many of you to the Club and was a super mentor to many of the young sprougs like myself. She was positive and supportive and we miss her wisdom and experience. Ann Fraser was a dedicated hard-working lovely person and we were very fortunate that she was so able and so willing to take on one of the hardest tasks in a Club. She is missed by all of us.

The Club’s involvement in the Vice Versa Project has raised awareness of our Club and those involved should be very proud of the Club’s latest accolade, the first winners of the Scottish Programme Action Award plus £200 to further the Project. Well Done!

What better way to end my year but with a celebration? 80 years a successful Club is phenomenal and thanks to those who were able to be at the Invercarse Hotel to toast our success. Thanks also, for your generous support of the Silent Auction. The money raised will be used, through Tayside Police, to help vulnerable women in Dundee and also, with your approval, the gifts received from Aberdeen, Crieff and St Andrews and District.

Jan Ireland.
